Upcoming Book Events

Just a little heads up for some regional appearances in the near future:

Thursday, April 4th, I will be on the Fox SportsNet show “Outdoor GPS” for an interview about Closer to the Ground. If you haven’t seen this program, it’s a great regional outdoor program shot live in Portland. But I think it’s available on most cable providers throughout the Northwest.

Saturday, April 6th, I will be at the Poulsbo Library at 2:00pm, and on Monday, April 8th at the Silverdale Library, 6:00pm, to talk about and read from Closer to the Ground. Since the book takes place here, I really want to reach out to our fellow Kitsap County locals. If you have time, please come by and join in the discussion.

That’s it for now, but we’ll be at most of the Kitsap Regional Libraries at some point in April. I have the full schedule posted on the website at http://www.dylantomine.com, and will try to post reminders here as we go.

Thanks, and I look forward to meeting you in person at the upcoming events. Hope you are all well.

Book Tour Update

Our Northern California events were awesome, with lots of people and good questions and discussion. Thank you to all the family, friends and new friends who attended. And a special shout out to Ian at Diesel (Oakland) for the heartfelt and eloquent introduction. It was also a real treat to spend some time with my mom and dad while I was there. THANK YOU!

Just back from Collected Works in Santa Fe. Great event, great town. I was wondering what I was doing in the desert with a book about an island in Puget Sound, but now I know. Completely worth the travel. And I’ve been enjoying “foraging” for SW food, including the gruesome-sounding but delicious Frito pie.

I’m at The Kings English Bookshop in Salt Lake City this Thursday at 7:00pm and Dolly’s Books in Park City Friday at 6:30pm. And if you live in Utah, I will be on Utah Public Radio between 9:00 and 10:00am Thursday morning. Tune in and come to the events…I look forward to meeting you in person.

Sunday Reading

Apologies if the blog is becoming a bit book-centric, but this year, book season has to take precedence. It’s ironic that working on the book is keeping us from some of the activities in the book, but there you have it. Mostly it’s a lot of fun, although I did have pangs of regret about missing last weekend’s razor clam opener.

I think yesterday’s event at Elliott Bay Book Co went a little better than the previous one, if only because I was a bit more comfortable. It was a great honor to read in the place where I’ve seen so many of my favorite authors over the years. And once again, I was happy to have all the familiar faces there; the support from friends and family has been overwhelming. Thank you!

Now I’m looking forward to meeting new people a little farther from home. I’m at Grass Roots Books in Corvallis, OR this Wednesday, October 24th at 7:00pm. Then Powell’s City of Books in Portland on Thursday, October 25th at 7:30pm. Stoked for both!
